Transnational Meeting in Latvia - M6

03.06.2019-  Workshop´s day

The arrival of all partners to the of Salgale Elementary school At 9:00 a.m. foreign teachers, foreign students and hosting students were welcomed at the school. On the 1st day participants went to ceramic workshop, where they made pottery and also leather bracelets with Latvian national ornaments at craftsmen centre “Jaunlīdumi” under monitoring of Saiva Drupa – the leader of leather processing workshop. At the end of the day students made friends at national dancing party. Representatives from each country introduced the project to the national dance step Evening ended in a picnic next to school.

 

04.06.2019 – Excursion to Jelgava, workshop´s day

On the next day we went to flood – lands of the river Lielupe wherefrom the sightseeing tower we could observe wild horses and panorama of city Jelgava and river Lielupe. We had a guiding tour around the city, but in “Caramel workshop” learned the art of making and coloring caramels. Students made their own caramel which they could take with them. After that, in farm house “Caunītes” authentic Latvian bread was baked and practiced to make decors out of wood.

05.06.2019- Workshop´s day Excursion to Rundale

At 9:00 foreign partners came in front of the Salgale Elementary school

The 3rd day started with 2 workshops: first students glazed self made pottery, then went to Staļģene weaving workshop, where students had an opportunity to get their hands in weaving in large weaving loom by master craftswoman Rita Sidraba.

At 2:00 pm we went to Rundale Palace where together with the local guide looked at Baroque interiors, values of art and French Formal garden. We continued the trip to “Laima Ceramics” ceramic workshop, where we could get to know the process of making ceramics, different materials – porcelain, clay, stone mass, and glazes. We got acquainted with work of ceramist and stages of creation of works of ceramic art. We could look at and also buy different works of art, work in new modern-fitted ceramic rooms. Later students made common piece of art – a vase, which ceramist will finish in a month and it returns at Salgale Elementary school as a memory of this project. 

After the workshop we went to Bauska castle to see the museum, enjoy the atmosphere of medieval casle and surroundings, as well as see the town Bauska.

 

06.06.2019 - Excursion to Riga and Jurmala

With foreign partners we met at the Salgale Elementary school at 9:00 am The partners went on an excursion to capital city Riga They enjoyed Old Town and museum of Latvian National Art. After that was relaxing trip to Jūrmala.

07.06.2019 - Happening

At 9:00 we met at the Salgale Elementary. On the final day of the project was exhibition of students` and teachers` works, followed by large format works open-air painting workshop. Participants made original work to emphasize the colors of their national flags. Works were placed on stands in a school yard and the photo session was done.

The closing of the project was in schools` hall where certificates were given to member states. All participants got presents and could look at photos to remember the week spent in Latvia. In the evening guests visited local farm house to enjoy horse ride.
